The rules for the tournament are posted here.
August 24th, 2006
The official enlisting thread is opened on the Blitz TOAW Forum. To apply for either side, simply post in the appropriate thread.
The tournament will consist of two rounds, based on two scenarios: Ben Turner's Leros 1943 and Charles Kotraba's Road to Rimini 1944. Both scenarios are to be found in the WW II - Mediterranean folder of TOAW 3.
Players have to chose a side, either Axis (and have the German paras featured in both scenarios under their command, hence the <cough> glamorous <cough> tournament title) or Commonwealth. Players will take their side of election for both scenarios.
You'll be randomly paired for the whole tournament, i.e. no-one will play twice the same opponent.
Naturally, surrenders, forfeits and AWOLs are not taken into account. If one player is found unresponsive, I will provide his opponent with a replacement player, provided there is one available. The scenarios chosen are short enough to prevent (I hope at least) a high drop-out rate. Replacements will be nonetheless listed once the teams are complete (in case there's an uneven number of players) or once the tournament has begun.
There will be one tournament winner for each side, Axis and Commonwealth.
The winner will be determined by points, i.e. the victory level at the end of the scenario. The final victory level for the first round (Leros 1943) will be multiplied by 5 to have both scenarios on the same VP scale (the scenario has a grand total of 20 VPs against exactly 100 in Road to Rimini 1944).
Winners (and eventual co-winners) will be awarded a bonus of 30 ladder points, seconds a bonus of 20 points, thirds a 10 point bonus. Each participant will receive a 5 bonus point for each round he has achevied.
Everything on with the exception of the Air Staff Assistant. No Borders and High Supply specifically are to be set on.
Players should agree beforehand on the SitRep Log and Movies settings - they have no impact on actual gameplay, but are useful for AAR writing.
Tournament should start Monday September 4th. First round will be extended up to Wednesday october 4th and second round up to Sunday october 29th. Remember, speed is of the essence with paratroopers!
Players should make sure they've patched their game with the most recent patch, i.e. 3.0.0.17, available here.
Play straight (as usual) and have fun!
